Why does SCAN exist?

 

More than 2.7 million dogs and cats are abandoned around the world each year; some in the Costa Blanca North. Those animals need help: they need a voice to speak on their behalf; they need care, rehabilitation and rehoming.

Since 2009, SCAN has been that voice in the Costa Blanca North, protecting the animals that cannot speak for themselves in a specialised Shelter with a team of trained Volunteers, SCAN rescues animals at risk and rebuilds their trust in people with the ultimate goal of finding loving, forever homes for them.

What does SCAN do?

 

  • SCAN takes in distressed cats and dogs, provides shelter for them, nurtures them, arranges necessary medical care for them, and then finds them safe new homes. SCAN has successfully found homes, in Spain and internationally, for around 3,000 cats and dogs.
  • SCAN advocates with local Town Halls to help them understand the evolving legislative frameworks.
  • SCAN educates the next generation with school visits promoting the importance of responsible pet ownership.
  • SCAN works closely with the other shelters nearby to help them create best practice care for their animals based on our own Nucleo Zoologico accreditation, knowledge and experience.
  • SCAN has established a strong working relationship with a registered Charity in Guernsey in the Channel Islands called Little Black Dog. This is a Charity with the same Ethos as SCAN in that we are committed to providing Care for Animals, we have made many trips already taking both Cats and Dogs to their new homes and futures with loving Families.

The work, however, is far from done.

  • SCAN ha establecido una sólida relación de trabajo con una organización benéfica registrada en Guernsey, en las Islas del Canal, llamada Little Black Dog. Esta es una organización benéfica con el mismo espíritu que SCAN en el sentido de que estamos comprometidos a brindar cuidado a los animales; hemos realizado muchos viajes y ya hemos llevado perros y gatos a sus nuevos hogares y futuros con familias amorosas.

Warum gibt es SCAN?

  • SCAN setzt sich bei den örtlichen Rathäusern dafür ein, ihnen zu helfen, die sich entwickelnden gesetzlichen Rahmenbedingungen zu verstehen.
  • SCAN bildet die nächste Generation durch Schulbesuche aus und vermittelt ihnen die Bedeutung einer verantwortungsvollen Haustierhaltung.
  • SCAN arbeitet eng mit den anderen Tierheimen in der Nähe zusammen, um ihnen dabei zu helfen, auf der Grundlage unserer eigenen Nucleo Zoologico-Akkreditierung, unseres Wissens und unserer Erfahrung eine optimale Pflege für ihre Tiere zu schaffen.
  • SCAN hat eine enge Arbeitsbeziehung mit einer eingetragenen Wohltätigkeitsorganisation in Guernsey auf den Kanalinseln namens Little Black Dog aufgebaut. Dies ist eine Wohltätigkeitsorganisation mit dem gleichen Ethos wie SCAN, da wir uns für die Betreuung von Tieren einsetzen. Wir haben bereits viele Reisen unternommen, um Katzen und Hunde in ihr neues Zuhause und in ihre Zukunft bei liebevollen Familien zu bringen.
